From Business Suits to Safety Shoes

After a few experiments, I’ve identified one of my writing pillars.  “From Business Suits to Safety Shoes,” is the title of a book I plan to write, so I am testing out some of the topics here.  I’m committing to writing weekly about career journeys and personal as well as professional growth.

Today I was inspired by two people.  One, a client who figured out that making a career move now was not the solution to the inner conflict she was feeling.  Making that decision brought both a smile to her face and a newfound sense of confidence. The other, a former business partner turned friend who made a huge leap to a new company in search of a more promising culture.

My own career path is one of happenstance and luck, but luck is no accident (my favorite career theory courtesy of the late, John Krumboltz).

Anyhow…as the weather across the country shows us, it’s an early spring and folks are on the move thinking about making all kinds of changes.

If you are thinking about a career change, keep this in mind:

  • Every job is a learning experience.

  • Don’t let self-doubt keep you from trying.

  • Enlist the help of a coach to keep you on target.

  • Realize the future starts now!
